Twilight Grandmother

June 7th, 2008 at 1:08 am by Kaleb Nation

I got this email and had to post it:

Ok, so I know that this is mainly a young adult book but let’s hear it for not only for Twilight MOMs, but I think there needs to be a new category for Twilight GRANDMOTHERS!!!!!

I’m 51 years young and have 5 beautiful grandbabies and I, along with my three daughters, LOVE Twilight! So widen out your range of fans just a little and leave room for us over 50′s!! This just proves that you’re never too old for a little romance!

Oh, by the way, I just told my mom about these books too, and so there might even be a need for Twilight GREATGRANDMOTHERS!

Love Ya!

I just found this site...guess I've been a bit reluctant to admit my obsession with Twilight Saga. I have rooted out all of Rob Pattinson's movies, same with Kristen and Taylor's. I can't get enough and cannot wait for Breaking Dawn's release. I need to hook up with other grandmothers and/or mothers who want to talk about various topics all Twilight related.

For instance: In the final scene sequence in Twilight where Edward and Bella are dancing and Bella starts to insist that Edward change her right then and there...I watch Edward's face contort as he fights with his desire for her blood, then leans over and gently kisses her neck. His next lines are equally as compelling as is his facial expression, "Aren't you satisfied to just spend the rest of your life with me?"

I keep replaying this scene because I find the expression Rob was able to emote and which was caught on the film and it convinced me that he, of all the others has a huge career as an actor in his future. He's amazing. I just need to talk to others about it. My DIL turned me onto the series, but with two young children she doesn't have the time to talk about it.

    Help me?
  • TWILLIGHT GREAT GRANDMOTHER
I'M 72 YEAR OLD GREAT GRANDMOTHER WHO HAS READ ALL 4 BOOKS ( TWICE).
ROBERT PATTINSON IS A PERFECT EDWARD CULLEN AND KRISTEN STEWART IS A PERFECT BELLA , AND IT WARMS MY HEART TO KNOW THEY ARE DATING IN REAL LIFE.

Hey - my Grandson told me about the books. He knows I like vamps. I read them before I watched the Movie and I'm hooked. WHen I watch them or read the books, I'm no longer a Grandma. Can't get enough. And the sound track and score are awesome. So -- you go all you Twilight Grandmas. ANd, I don't care what Stephen King says - Stephanie can just keep them coming.

  • bookgirlluvstwilight
My Grandmother hasn't read Twilight, in fact I don't think she has even ever heardof it. I guss that not a surprize because the live in Minasota and away from other life, not internet, an antient TV, and an antient phone. My aunt has read it though! :) She was the one who gave it to me for Christmas! I will forever be in debut to her for introducing me to Twilight! Twilight Aunt :)

    Stevie was here, again
  • Awesome! I could a couple of my grandmothers (I have three) reading Twilight. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of them or my aunts started talking about it on vacation this year. They follow the hot books pretty heavily.
  • bookgirlluvstwilight

    Sniffff.
  • that's so awesome <3 i don't know if my gramma would like the series buuuut i think it would be interesting to send her a few books and find out :)

thanks for the idea, random grandmother lady! you're awesome! :)
  • Morgan A.
Thats so cool! I might ask my grandmother to read twilight, but my own mom would never of heard of the series if it weren't for me, and she even hasn't read them yet, even though I've tried to force her to.
My grandma might like it, she likes romances, but the books she reads are more like adult romances so we'll see. But then again, she might forget Lol
  • Jojo
The depressing thing is that my Grandma doesn't read...and she'd refuse to read anything on vampires. Then again, guess what? I flipped when I found out she was born in Chicago in 1918...
  • Someone
You know you've got a good book, and series, on your hands when people of all ages can pick it up and enjoy it. Good job to Stephanie Meyer, and kudos to all you 50+ twilighters out there. That's really cool ;p
  • Molly
Haha. I just made my brother read it, and hes all "I dont like it, its dumb!", but i also saw him steal my New Moon and Eclipse..
  • I'm glad to hear that you love Twilight too! I wonder if my 73 year old mother would like it too.
  • I'm more amused at the fact that you are sending her a t-shirt. I think I'd crack up if I saw a 90 year old wearing a Twilight Tee. XD
  • Jan
    aw that was really sweet.
  • Oh wow. That's awesome.
I'd so have my mother and grandmother read the Twilight series but they're not so great with English. I could try...
  • Ash is DA Bomb!
YaY! I'm trying to get my grandmother to read twilight too! Cause every day I talk about twilight (mainly Edward Cullen lol!) she says this to me every day "Why do you love this Edward Cullen guy? He's a vampire! for crying out loud" I reply to her "Read the book" she just rolls her eyes. It's my final act to get her to read Twilight YAY TWILIGHT GRANDMOTHERS!!
  • Deja
Ha Ha..my Grandma starts them right after I read them for the 7th time..even though I'm stressing because they're going to be away from me for awhile..:( but yeah Go all TWILIGHT FANS!! Woot! Woot!
  • Zebra Flowers
    I got my grandma to read it, and so far, she is the only person I've ever seen to give it a semi-lukewarm response, saying that, "with the exception of one scene," it was a good book for young girls. I've no idea what scene she was talking about, though -.-;
  • Filipa

  • Lara
    thats awesome!
Im sooooo getting my grandmother into it..
and the rest of my family..
    GO GRANDMA! =D
  • Becca
My grandma also read Twilight, though I don't think she read New Moon and Eclipse, but that's beside the point. I believe that she was the first in my extended family to read the book which she had got from her neice and then went on to pass it around the family and get us all hooked.
  • Autumn
holy crap. i wish more of my family was into reading. starting today im going to try and get as many members of my family that i can to read twilight.
  • Icy Topaz
My Gramma read it and adored it. I let my other Gramma borrow it, but she's not so into reading. I dunno. But Twilight is a book for anyone, so I don't know why there aren't more fanclubs out there consisting of people other than teenage girls. Books are not directed toward one group; they're for every body.

Hi...I can tell you why I am hooked on Twilight Saga. It's easy. There is no swearing, no sex...and after watching Rob Pattinson talk about the "wedding night" scene in Breaking Dawn I believe that even that will be done tastefully without bare bottoms or exposed breasts. It took me a while to realize this, but I was trying to sell an acquaintance on the series after hearing the usual, I'm not interested in Werewolves and Vampires...So I clarified her that there were no real werewolves, instead there were Shapeshifters...a totally different breed...then I asked if she like Romeo and Juliet stories...yes...so I said, here, this is my copy of Twilight...read it...tell me what you think and you have to promise me that you'll read at least to page 100. I can't wait to see her again...to find out if she has read it yet.
  • Samantha
How neat is that! They've got three generations worth of Twilighters, maybe even four! That's insane.
  • Kaylee
She's not the only one, I got my grandmother into Twilight as well. Now we e-mail each other back and forth debating and discussing the series.
  • donnabrenneis
I am just going to reply to the first blog about the Twilight series. I subscribed to the comments via e-mail. I wish there was a discussion about the depth of Stephanie Meyers' saga. I am a 67-year old grandmother who has read the saga twice, and have now seen both movies. I have never been a fan of vampires, but my granddaughter and daughter were so into the saga that they could not tear themselves away from the books. They too have read the saga, at least, twice. I was hooked with the first reading of Twilight. After I read the 4 books, I went back and re-read them, highlighting all the themes, insights, ideas, answers to human questions that Stephanie seems to know and raise etc. I knew other grandmas had to be reading the saga. I am so glad to see this blog.
