Stephenie Meyer Is Not Dead

// UPDATE 12/8/09 — There was yet another wild Stephenie Meyer Death Report. Click here >>>
Hope everybody had some great laughs across the fandom today! It was my first April Fools Day with the site, so I had fun switching stuff out for 24 hours (things will be back to normal tonight!). The Twilight Lexicon’s ‘new design’ was perhaps the most epic thing I’ve seen all year
But, with all fun times there are those few spoilsports who go overboard. I got back from school this evening only to find my inbox bulging and about to burst (even worse than I Twittered yesterday). For starters, the Lexicon is not REALLY changing to a fansite for me. Also, I did not pay/bribe/threaten/cajole/wheedle them to change the site, nor did I even ask, nor am I using the Lexicon to advertise my blog (so, the hatemail can stop, plzthnx?). It was entirely their idea, and I got lots of laughs from it, as did everyone who isn’t half-troll (we even had Summit fooled for a while, ha ha!). I especially loved that epic song
To answer the rest of the emails, STEPHENIE MEYER IS NOT DEAD. This was an April Fools Prank that went a bit overboard from a press website I shall not link but you can read about in other places. This story was then reportedly picked up by CNN. Whichever news outlet picked it up needs to fire their fact-checker, obviously. From Stephenie’s website:
…despite some really tasteful Fool’s Day pranks on-line, I want to assure you that I am in excellent health, thank you very much. Also, I have no current plans to write any scripts, sequels, or collaborations, nor have I been to any conventions this year.
So, always check things before you believe them! Hope everyone has a great rest of the day (and nope, I had nothing to do with the new Photobucket either…maybe)
