A guy reads Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (2009-2011)

Announcing: SHIVERGUY.COM

As I said when I first started this website, two very long years ago: “I do not read vampire romances, nor werewolf romances, nor hobbit romances, nor any other romances“. However, I lived through reading and reviewing the entire Twilight Saga. And as such things go, it only follows that I must now experiment on the second item on my list of things I do not read: werewolves.

I discovered Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater when it was given to me at a convention, but never opened it. I was told by Lauren of TheCrookedShelf.com and the Official Twilight Facebook to read it, though I never did, until many months later when I finally opened the book to see what the beginning was like. I knew full well that I didn’t have time to read anything nor get involved in another fandom: and yet I was sucked in before the second chapter ended. Thus, I relented, and decided I would read the rest, and blog my experience at SHIVERGUY.COM.

Shiver has been called the Twilight for werewolf lovers, so if you were a fan of Twilight and twilightguy.com, you’ll almost certainly enjoy reading along with me. I haven’t read the book, so I can’t honestly say if I’m a fan or not. But the opening was good enough for me to set up a new website… and that takes a lot 😀

This website will be my video thoughts on reading the book, and possibly continuing on to the sequels. Unlike twilightguy.com, the reviews there will be done via videos posted once / twice a week with my thoughts on a few chapters at a time (as Maggie’s chapters run shorter and thus I can read a lot at one time).

NOTE: I WILL NOT BE ENDING twilightguy.com. I will STILL keep up with this website as we get ready for the Eclipse and Breaking Dawn movies!

If you want to follow along, visit TheCrookedShelf.com, ShiverGuy.com, and subscribe to my channel on Youtube. I hope you enjoy following along with my journey through the world of werewolves!

To follow along as I read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, visit The Books page or your local bookstore to buy it.

  2. DANG!! I just finished Harry Potter (Yes, I am a little late on that bandwagon). Of course I LOVED it and sacrificed so much to read it that left myself behind with the promise to myself that I wouldn't pick up another book until things were caught up…and then I saw this. Now I have conflict!! Be true to myself, or try to be disciplined with my time while reading a good book? I am always up for opportunities to grow…
