I am going to be very honest in my review of Twilight. Thus, it should first be known that I went to see the film not expecting to be overly thrilled.

We have been waiting on this movie for months. People have scoured the internet and fansites for every photo, soundtrack clip and interview there is. There are t-shirts and perfumes and merchandise for this movie long before it is even out, or anyone has seen it, or anyone has even had a chance to decide if they like it. The fact is that it has been so hyped, it almost seemed as if there was no possible way it could live up to the expectations that I and thousands of other fans had.

But then, it did.

The moment that the opening titles of the film appeared, I was transported to the world that Stephenie had created. I don’t know exactly how it happened: whether it was hearing Bella’s voice, or the words we all know so well from the prologue. But I suddenly felt this was the film that I, and thousands of others, had been waiting on for months. This was Twilight, and it was finally here.

The details of the movie will speak for themselves when you see it (hopefully, more than once). But I will say that everything from the book is there: from meeting Edward in the school, to Edward saving Bella in the alley, to the trip to La Push, to running from James, to the prom scene. Everything is there — and even more. As I watched the movie, I felt an urge to call my friends still waiting for midnight in a different time zone, and tell them to brace themselves for what they were about to see.

I certainly did not go into the theater expecting to laugh while watching the film. There are a few laughs in the book, but I thought the movie would be a strict romance and leave no room for embellishment. But Charlie, Jasper, Mike Newton, and Eric Yorkie made everyone in the theater laugh endlessly. Michael Welch was a wonderful actor, and made his character leap right out from the books. I can easily see Catherine Hardwicke’s influence in keeping the film from being overly serious business, and yet delicately keeping with the plot of the story.

The sparkling was everything I had expected it to be. The meadow was just as I had pictured it. Vampire baseball was exactly as I had imagined: with the added effect of the perfect music selection in the background (you’ll recognize it when you hear it).

All of the vampire action was amazing. It is impossible to put to words the feeling you get when you see Bella trapped in the alley, and then see Edward suddenly roar in with his shiny silver Volvo. Robert Pattinson was able to portray Edward so well: I could feel how angry he was, and how close he came to killing them.

There was of course some awkwardness along the way. The flying Edward didn’t quiet click with me. Bella seemed to fall for Edward very quickly, despite what her outside feelings seemed to portray. But each of these were so minor they were hardly noticeable.

As for any doubts on the soundtrack, they have all been wiped away. I didn’t get a few of the song selections when I first heard the album, but when you actually see the film and where each song is placed, it is far easier to understand. And, for any doubters still out there, Bella’s Lullaby sounds far better when it is seen in the movie.

It would really be impossible to pick a favorite scene without spoiling it for those who haven’t read it. So, I have prepared my three favorite scenes in only 2 words, so people who have seen the movie will know what I’m talking about, and those who haven’t will not:

Three favorite scenes:

1. Edward… alley

2. Cullens… baseball

3. Edward… piano.

And my three favorite funny scenes:

1. Mike… window (ha ha)

2. Jasper… sniff (he he)

3. Charlie… gun (BAHAHA)

Also, there was a whole lot of pointing and whispering when it came to the scene with Stephenie. She was typing at a computer — hopefully, working on another book.

Of course, people have already started to complain that the movie doesn’t follow the books — but they are vastly wrong. This is one of the most loyal films I have seen before. Unlike many book-to-films, you can actually tell that this is based upon the novel — every major event in Twilight is covered, in nearly the same exact order in the books.

The thing to keep in mind is that it is very hard to transpose a novel onto the screen, since they are two entirely different mediums. Tiny details like Bella having an iPod or the exact dialogue are simply details that have to be shifted into film. It is very much like translating from English to Latin, where certain words must be moved and rearranged to make it understandable.

I was particularly surprised that the movie turned out so wonderfully on such a small budget. This definitely attests to Catherine Hardwicke’s directing, as she was able to create a studio-quality film with nearly $100 million less than the first Harry Potter.

Any doubts that I had of this film being a success have vanished. So congratulations to Stephenie, and Catherine, and everyone else who was involved in the making of this movie. Twilight was worth the wait.

Since I’ll be heading off for the Twilight movie premiere and TwilightLive this Sunday, now is the time for me to outline some of the things I will be doing and how I’m going to be covering it!

First off, I really want to thank everyone who donated to help with my trip! You people are amazingly awesome. I had absolutely no intention of going to the premiere, and it wasn’t until people began offering to send donations to help me get there that I even saw a chance. Now, thanks to the help of my readers, I will be at the events and grabbing as many photos and video clips as I possibly can!

I did receive a red carpet pass, and will be interviewing Stephenie Meyer and as many of the stars as I can get a hold of. I paired up with the Lexicon, so with that sort of name beside my site we will be able to get some great footage together.

Some other things I might do is a surprise BlogTV one of the nights, an audio-blog from my cell so you get live coverage, and other cools stuffs. It will be a good idea to subscribe to my BlogTV as well as Bailey’s if you want to see the live show(s), because it will send you an email when I come on. Keep an eye on this site Sunday and Monday for those things.

On Sunday, I will be flying in very early (I have to be up at 2 AM for the flight) and immediately heading to TwilightLive, at Borders Westwood. This is going to be an enormous event (think hundreds of people, some camping out the night before) and I will be participating in a panel with Bailey (nomoremarbles) and others for a few hours.

On Monday, I will be at the premiere and on the red carpet, doing interviews. Afterward, I will be tagging along with whoever I can attach myself to, so there is no telling where I will be in LA after the event.

If you do see me at any of these events, please make sure to come up and say hi! This is my first Twilight event, as well as my first public appearance that is actually worth calling an ‘appearance’, so it will be great to meet as many people as I can. Oh, and Rachul the mod will be there, making sure that I don’t get my nose broken (AKA what happened in San Fransisco).

It’ll be great to know how many of you will be coming too! All I need is your first name and for you to check which events you will be at. This takes two seconds and will help me know how many people who regularly read my site will be at the event.

HE PROPOSED WITH BELLA’S ENGAGEMENT RING. I love my girlfriend, and I have to say I love her a lot more than Robert “Robward” Pattinson or Edward Cullen loves her. I love her so much I intend to marry her one day. We’ve been going out for seven and a half years now and every day has brought me something new, but none as much as her latest obsession of the Twilight books. You see, Marianne and I met in high school when we were sixteen years old, and being introduced to Twilight made me feel like I was dating my sweet sixteen year old girlfriend again. Unlike some of the other guys I know dating girls obsessed with the books, my girlfriend never insisted that I read the series, but her obsession was making me curious. Now being as obsolete to books as I am, I walked into a book store forgetting the name of the Twilight novel and asked for a book with a girl holding an apple. I intended to surprise my girlfriend by reading it before she inevitably asked me to. Anyway, the clerk behind the counter was a man, an old man, and he showed me Snow White. I knew it wasn’t that… so I decided to look for myself and ended up finding Eclipse. It was a small bookstore and I was too scared to get caught buying Twilight in a larger one like Borders, so I bought Eclipse instead and read it. All of it. The Edward character inspired me to want to propose to my girl even sooner than before because he reminded me of how much I loved her. A few nights later after reading the book, Marianne was intending to buy a t-shirt to wear to the opening release of Breaking Dawn in August and she had the Twilight Teez website open on her computer. I promised I would buy her the shirt and that’s when I came across Bella’s engagement ring. It finally arrived three months later (give or take) and my plan was simple. I had bought a new bed frame despite there being nothing wrong with the old one. I even went so far as to get one with rose panels. She was confused when I showed her the new frame, but then I intentionally proposed to her the same way Edward did, “I promise to love you forever - every single day of forever. Will you marry me?” But it was her face that was most priceless, when she recognized the words I was saying and the ring that she was staring at in its black velvet box. Her reaction was dissimilar to Bella’s -- she screamed and nodded and said “Oh my Cullen!” a lot -- and I kissed each of her fingertips and the ring that was now hers. I’ve since read all other books in the Twilight series and we plan to get married next Spring." Submitted by Lachlan

Every book, there has been that Certain Chapter that everyone seems to be anticipating me to read and comment on. In Twilight, it was the Meadow Scene. In New Moon, it was the dreaded Chapter 3. In Eclipse, it is obviously chapter 7. The majority of the comments on Chapter 6 weren’t even about that chapter: it was people pushing me along to get to chapter 7 sooner.

So, with that sort of anticipation lined up, I hesitantly slid into this one expecting something ginormously earth-shattering; examples being:

1. Edward and Jacob accidentally meet at a soda shop and talk through their problems, and suddenly are best buddies, or

2. Bella discovers she is actually descended from gnomes and can turn to stone, which she does, or

3. A character named Naleb Kation appears and saves the day from the quick approaching soldiers of General Grunksnot’s evil leprechaun armies, using only a book and his wits

none of which I would have much comment on, as I would be too busy trying to make sense of what exactly Stephenie had been drinking whilst writing that part.

By the title of this chapter, I know that something is about to go wrong. Something is on Rosalie’s mind, and has been on her mind for quite a long time. She has been against Bella being turned into a vampire from the start — sometimes, the only one besides Edward. Thus when Rosalie tells Bella there is a reason behind her objections, I immediately knew that something terrible must have happened in her past to make her think that way.

And it is true: Rosalie’s history is a sad and dark one. You would think that by having everything she wanted, and by seeming to have a perfect, high-class life, that she would be happy - even that she should be happy. But it is obvious that Rosalie never was. While her friend was not as rich as she was, and did not associate with the same high-class crowds, Rosalie is jealous of her because she actually found a way to be happy, even without as many possessions. By having everything, Rosalie only wanted more, when all she really wanted was happiness: something her parents’ money could not give her.

It is through this that Rosalie was nearly killed by a man whom she thought would be fit as a husband — blinded to his true nature, perhaps, by his wealth and power. The stark reality also is that if she had not killed Royce and his friends, because of their social stature, most likely there would have been no justice done to any of them.

Suddenly, I can really understand why Rosalie seems to be so angry at Bella. She has a choice that Rosalie would give anything for, and yet it appears that Bella is ready to throw it away at the first chance she gets. Rosalie was raised in want of nothing; but the one thing she wants is the one thing she can’t have.

Despite the fact that I have been a bit against Jacob lately, in favor of Edward, I can’t help but feel thrilled that he appears out of nowhere to steal Bella away. They seem to be getting quite a plan down. But as the next chapter is called Temper, I have a feeling that Edward will not be far behind…
